Covid-Secure rehearsal arrangements

We are planning to hold two Covid-Secure pilot rehearsals at St. John’s on Monday November 2nd and Monday December 7th.

These will be held under the new Covid-Secure protocols as specified by the government in their guidelines for the performing arts and a list of the instructions for following these protocols is attached, along with the full risk assessment which applies to both the Band and the Church. In order to attend you must comply with these instructions exactly.

Please note that the way in which you enter the Church has changed and there is additional equipment which you need to bring.

You must not attend rehearsal if you have had any symptoms which may be Covid-related or have had a positive test in the previous 14 days. If you experience any symptoms or have a positive test within 14 days of attending a rehearsal you must inform a committee member immediately. Also do not attend rehearsal if the NHS app designates your area as high risk.

  • You must enter by the North door of the Church (see diagram below) and leave by the door of the Resources Room.
  • If you have the NHS app, please check in using the QR code at the North door.
  • Ensure that you have been ticked off on the attendance list.
  • You must wear a mask on entering the Church and you must wear the mask at all times when not playing.
  • A “Bring what you use” policy is in force:
  • As usual, bring your instrument and music stand.
  • You should also print your music beforehand and bring it with you(this will be emailed to you beforehand).
  • Bring a chair(one of the tests is to see whether it is easier to bring your own chair or sanitise the Church chairs).
  • Bring a small towel with which to mop up any drips, and a bag to put it in.
  • Chairs should be placed in the 2m - spaced layout indicated. Chairs can be rotated to view the conductor, but must not be moved otherwise.Sharing of music stands will not be possible.
  • There will probably be two breaks of around 10 minutes duration, to ensure sufficient ventilation in the Church (the doors of the Church will be open for this purpose). You should wear a mask and maintain social distance during breaks. Refreshments will not be provided – you should bring anything you need to eat or drink.
  • Some areas of the Church are out-of - bounds, including the Chancel, Lady Chapel and area below the balcony.
  • The toilets in the Church Centre are available, but only one person may use them at a time (to avoid queuing, do not wait for a break).
